- 6.48 Stopping
Teaching points
- Stopping within 6 m of a bridge is prohibited. So 5 m is an offence. A bridge hides you from other traffic.
- You may not stop within 6 m of a tunnel or bridge, nor within 9 m of a pedestrian crossing. 6 m from a railway crossing is the only lawful choice here.
- In order to legally stop in a no stopping zone, it would have to be a situation beyond your control, right? And looking at these three options, only option C is going to give us that option, right? So, option C is going to be correct. Only if a situation beyond your control forces you to stop, such as a mechanical failure or a sudden illness.
- When we're looking at option A, it says stop in a no stopping zone to quickly drop off a passenger. Obviously, that is illegal. You cannot do that. With option B, it says exceed the speed limit briefly while overtaking another vehicle. Again, that is also illegal. Therefore, the only correct option would be option C, none of the above.
